About Us
How It Works…
Planning epic adventures takes time, experience, and local know-how. That’s where we come in.
Not everyone dreams of suburbs, traffic, and routine. Some of us are wired to explore—to chase freedom, adventure, and meaning. That’s what Breaking Away Adventures is all about. Inspired by the spirit of the film Breaking Away, we’re building a community of riders and wanderers who crave more than just thrills—they want connection, challenge, and purpose.
Most of our trips are motorcycle-based because we believe two wheels are the best way to experience the world—raw, real, and unforgettable.
Breaking Away offers semi-all-inclusive motorcycle adventures. We take care of the hard stuff—routes, logistics, local tips, rider development and gear suggestions—so you can focus on the ride. You pick the trip, rent or ride your bike, and we’ll handle the rest.
Let us take you to the edge of ordinary—and way beyond.
Why Breaking Away?
Most adventure companies offer only one way in: pay big money or stay home. But at Breaking Away, we’re not just selling trips—we’re building a community. Yes, every adventure has its costs, but our bigger goal is to create a collective of like-minded explorers who can share the ride, grow together, and eventually pass the spirit of adventure on to the next generation.
That’s why we offer a range of pricing options and flexible packages—so adventurers from all walks of life can join us, no matter their budget.
Whether you’re looking for a fully guided experience with everything included, a DIY-style route plan with local tips, or just want to join our community meetups and rides, we’ve got a path for you. Choose what fits your style, your goals, and your wallet—and let the adventure begin.
Where do we go?
Our adventures are rooted in the rugged beauty of New Mexico and the American Southwest, with occasional journeys into neighboring states, Baja, and beyond. While many of our trips are off-road and camping-based, we also offer a variety of other experiences—day trips for local sightseeing and food tours, high-energy excursions that blend dual-sport riding with skydiving, cycling, or hiking, and unique itineraries exploring National Parks, iconic baseball stadiums, and more.
Wherever the road leads, one thing is certain: we’re here to break away from the familiar and dive headfirst into the unknown. Join us.
Made (all over) America
East Coast born, West Coast raised, and shaped by a nomadic life across the country, I’ve always been drawn to discovery and adventure. For over two decades, I built a career in hospitality and event management—learning how to craft unforgettable experiences, connect with people, and navigate the chaos with calm. Eventually, I took that skillset out of the bars and restaurants and onto the open road—trading menus for maps and turning my passion for motorcycles and travel into a new way of life.
I find joy in sharing the ride—whether it’s tackling backcountry trails, cruising scenic highways, catching a game or a local festival, traveling abroad, or simply connecting with new people and places along the way. The road is more than a route—it’s a way to build community, embrace curiosity, and chase freedom.
Breaking Away was born from this spirit. Our goal is to create unforgettable adventures for tenacious riders from around the country and the world—immersed in the raw beauty, challenge, and joy that lives on the roads less traveled.
Until we see you on the trail…

What I Ride
Fresh off the trail and still smelling like new decals—my 2016 Husqvarna FE450 is the go-to machine for tearing up the rugged backroads of New Mexico. Lightweight, powerful, and built for the dirt, it’s an essential part of the adventure.
Joining the stable in 2024 is Billy, a 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700. This beast growls through long hauls and handles technical terrain like a pro. Grrr indeed.
And then there’s Aunt Margaret—my trusty 2014 BMW GS1200. With nearly 100,000 miles under her belt, she’s semi-retired from the rough stuff but still holds a special place in the garage (and my heart).
When I’m riding solo, I often clock 500–800 miles a day—anything to extend my time at the destination. Comfort, capability, and fuel range all matter when the goal is to go farther and stay longer.
